Rock, edge and vivid imagination. The Georgian brand LEM, founded in 2020, revives the rock aesthetic in their FW23 ‘SPIRIT OF ROCK’ Collection. The mix of experimental silhouettes, vibrant patterns and unique craftsmanship blend together to form a bold wave of garments. The designer, Fridon Niguriani, furthered the impact of the designs by producing a line of statement accessories, bringing to life the show stopping collection.
Inspiration
Fridon was inspired by his love for rock since he was a child. The idea of walking with music through life was the core of the journey for this collection. The power of music to push us through times of despair, uplift us, clam us down, inspire and love. The Georgian designer said that listening to a new Deep Purple song, ‘Nothing at All’, on the radio on a car ride was the spark that lit the creative process of LEM’s FW23.

From Concept to Practice
Much like the intensity the rock and metal genres project as well as its expression-full nature is reflected on the collection. We see an array of freeform silhouettes sporting intense colours, details and shapes. The explosion of vibrancy contrasts the usual darker tones we subconsciously link with rock. This antithesis expands the meaning of how music and rock is perceived differently by listeners and how it can paint a variety of images in our minds. LEM put forward tulle and fluffy skirts, belted jumpsuits, kimonos and raincoats at the epicentre of this collection. Gold, bronze and silver headpieces and other statement accessories complete the look that almost take on an otherworldly fantasy character. Ironically enough these jewellery touches seem to play on the ideal of metal as a double meaning between genre and material, making the collection even more intriguing. Furthermore, the drums and Cymbals turned to headwear, carry on the core concept of this music-inspired collection into each look.
